Reinisch Mackenzie offers a comprehensive array of services to assist insurers, self-insured employers and service companies in the constantly changing area of workers' compensation.

Defense Litigation and Appellate Services

Oregon. Our experienced group of litigators based in Portland regularly defends workers' compensation claims on behalf of employers and insurers throughout Oregon in claims involving everything from conventional soft-tissue injuries to complex issues of toxic exposure or mental disorders. We also offer our litigation clients comprehensive pre-hearing services, including compensability determinations, hearings work-up, exposure assessments, expert depositions, settlement negotiations and, of course, appearances before the workers' compensation Administrative Law Judges. After the hearing, the Reinisch Mackenzie, P.C. appellate department features attorneys who specialize exclusively in the briefing and oral advocacy skills necessary to defend close wins or obtain tough reversals on review before the Oregon Workers' Compensation Board, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

Washington. Our Washington litigators offer the personal attention and aggressive approach necessary to effectively represent employers in today’s challenging self-insured environment. Our attorneys have developed effective working relationships with all levels of the Washington Department of Labor and Industries and the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals to ensure the best possible results. Reinisch Mackenzie, P.C. is also one of the few Pacific Northwest firms to offer workers' compensation defense services from offices based in both Seattle and Portland, enabling us to provide responsive, cost-effective representation to all sectors of the Washington business community on a statewide basis.

Regulatory Services

Few industries endure more intrusive and complex regulation than workers' compensation. Unlike other workers' compensation firms, Reinisch Mackenzie, P.C. has specialists who have spent years developing familiarity with those regulations (and the regulators) to assist employers and insurers involved in medical treatment disputes, vocational assistance disputes, processing audits, reimbursement disputes and other related proceedings. In addition, as an industry service, attorneys regularly contribute time to participate on legislative and administrative task forces to help block or shape new regulations, and provide advance alerts to our clients of impending changes.

Claims Training & Certification

Oregon Examiner Certification. Reinisch Mackenzie, P.C. proudly supports the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Institute, LLC, by serving as its primary sponsor, hosting the OWCI certification courses at the Reinisch Mackenzie Training Center, and contributing attorneys as course mentors and teaching assistants. Hundreds of claim examiners, human resources managers and others have graduated from the Examiner Certification Course, the first to be approved by the Workers’ Compensation Division in 1990.

Continuing Education. Reinisch Mackenzie, P.C. provides periodic continuing workers’ compensation education seminars at its Training Center and other locations in Oregon and Washington. Reinisch Mackenzie attorneys regularly accept invitations to speak on-site regarding topics requested by our clients in sessions that qualify for continuing education credit hours. We also frequently participate in such sessions for organizations such as the Oregon State Bar Workers’ Compensation Section, the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Claims Association and the Washington Self-Insurers Association.
